What’s On Momma T’s Table the Week of 9/15/13

Fall seems to be descending on these parts this weekend. We went from temperatures in the high 90’s to a cool, crisp air in the matter of a week. While I enjoy the summer weather, I will admit it’s nice to open up the windows and enjoy the fresh air.

I know you’ll get no argument out of Ernie on this.

With the nice weather we were able to get out and clean out some of the flower beds and do a little yard work yesterday evening. Time to think about fall plantings and just getting everything ready for the coming winter. 

As we weeded the bed around our Ornamental Plum Tree we noticed it had some dead branches so we got the pruners. Upon closer examination we noticed giant globs of dark sap all over the trunk and the branches.

Research has revealed that our poor plum is suffering from Bores and the outlook is not good. Given that the tree has been a problem since we planted it AND a beacon for every Japanese Beetle in the Tri-county area, we are not all that sad to see it go. Plans are to take it out and provide a place for our son to put up a metal sculpture. Closed door/open window sort of thing.

Activities around the table are heating up though. The girl is keeping us hopping! Adding more to her plate every day. So, the menus have to reflect that. We start the week out with a Family Funday Sunday too! Since the brake line has sprung a leak in The Boy’s car we will be staying around the homestead while he and his father work on replacing it. I will be putting out a big spread and we’ll just hang out and enjoy each other’s company. I’m good with that! 🙂

BREAKFAST:

Sunday – Biscuits and Gravy

Saturday – Pancakes

LUNCHES:

Sunday – Grab it and Growl

Monday – Turkey Roll-ups with Soft Prezel, Cottage cheese, Cherry Tomatoes and Watermelon

Tuesday – Grilled Roast Beef Sandwiches, Mac and Cheese and Salad

Wednesday – Pesto Chicken Sandwich, Fruit and Veggies

Thursday – BLT Pasta Salad

Friday – Rotisserie Chicken Wrap with Baby Carrots and Fruit

Saturday – Leftovers

DINNERS:

Family Funday Sunday – Pulled Pork BBQ, Vegetarian BBQ (will share this recipe if it turns out good), Baked Beans, Honey Potatoes, Chopped Salad, Green Bean Casserole, Watermelon, Apple Fritter Cake and Slutty Brownies (OK. I know that does not sound family appropriate, but they are REALLY good.

Monday – Layered Meatball Casserole, Crusty Bread and Salad

Tuesday – Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole

Wednesday – Slow-cooker Orange Chicken and Pea Pods with Steamed Rice

Thursday – The Boy’s Dinner – Four Cheese Pasta and Beef. (he wouldn’t let me make it in his place while he was sick, so I saved it for him.) 

Friday – Oven baked Fajitas

Saturday – Chicken Parm BLT Sandwiches with Roasted Mushrooms and Green Beans
