Monday Musing

We’re just a week away from Halloween and the anticipation of our favorite day is palpable. It’s hard to think of anything else! We are tweaking displays and lighting and adding a few new pieces.

This sign, made by The Hubs, is my favorite new piece! It just makes the whole thing feel complete. Like the welcome mat to our Halloween Home.

This is a Jacob’s Ladder that The Hubs built. (Please do not let this man tell you that this Halloween stuff is a chore. He loves it just as much as the rest of us…maybe more.) Anyway, the Jacob’s Ladder is an electrical spark that climbs from the bottom of two copper wires to the top over and over and over again. It makes a buzz-zap sound that makes my hair stand on end. Even as I type the description of the sound my scalp tingles and crawls. I hate it, but he’s extremely pleased with himself, so I guess it’s good.

So, I’ve been getting on a lot of you about getting your teal dot on the interactive map and it would appear that you are listening. There are currently 20 dots in my home town alone. Of course we can do better than that. I know that there are several in my area who are planning to do it, but aren’t on the map yet. Don’t wait! Let people know where to find you now, while they are planning things out!

Today though I want to make sure that those of you who have a child in your home with dietary restrictions go to check out the map and find the Teal Pumpkin Houses, organizations and events NEAR YOU so you can get your safe Halloween prizes. Don’t leave the teal pumpkin houses with a full bowl of prizes! That would just be sad.

I want to give a special shout out to the following groups/locations who will be putting out the teal pumpkin:

Minier Assembly Trunk or Treat – 604 S. Minier Ave. Minier, IL 61759 – Description Trunk or Treat plus Petting Zoo (Under the Tent) and Festival Games 6-8 pm on 10/31 with glow bracelets, pencils, stickers, temporary tattoos, and more.

Washington Police Department – 115 W. Jefferson St., Washington, IL 61571 – Police stickers, temporary tattoos or candy treat

Bridgeway Community Church – 106 Grant Rd., Marquette Heights, IL – This is a trunk or treat event. Many people from our congregation will line up their cars in the parking lot and provide a safe place for children to trick or treat. Every single car will have teal pumpkin options. The event will last from 6-8pm. There will also be other games and activities for children to enjoy.

As I said, there are many individuals now participating in our area, and I hope I’ve inspired people all over to do it.

Don’t forget to show me your Teal Pumpkins too! #mommatstealpumpkins

FINALLY, our boy Jack and his pup Zero have been entered into a Teal Pumpkin Contest. Search #tealpumpkincontest and you should see this picture. Click on it and give it a like. Share it and this post too! I can only do so much to get the word out! #tealistheneworange
